Game Recap

The Wildcats took on Desert Ridge at home on Friday night. KC McCormick would get the start and throw five and a third innings giving up only three hits and two runs. McCormick struck out nine Jaguars over his innings of work. The Jaguars were able to take a 1-0 lead in the top half of the fourth. The Wildcats would be able to answer back in the bottom of the fifth when TJ Clarkson hit a two out triple to center field scoring Jacob Henderson and Willie Cano. Ethan Long would follow Clarkson with a double down the third base line pushing the lead to 3-1. KC McCormick went out for the for the fifth allowing the lead off man to reach on a single. McCormick stuck the second batter out and would be lifted for Holden Breeze. The Jaguars would get a single to score the inherited runner to cut the Wildcats lead to 3-2. The bottom of the six the Cats would be able to extend their lead to 6-2. Tyler Laliberty got it started with a hit by pitch and then David Watson doubled to left center to score two Wildcats. Jacob Henderson would add another hit that plated Watson and the Cats held a 6-2 lead going into the top of the seventh. Noah Schoenhardt came out of the pen in the seventh. The Jaguars were able to score a run but it was not enough as the Wildcats would get the win 6-3. This moved Mesquite’s power point record to 4-0 and overall record to 6-1. The Wildcats next games are Saturday in the Desert Vista tournament as they take on Mountain View at 9:30 and Desert Vista at 12:30.
